Really I would splurge if I had $4,000 to spare, but a bag that's less than $50 is a pretty sweet deal too. I think every fashionista out there would love to own their own Chanel bag and pass it on to their daughters and then to your daughter's daughters. A classic Chanel crossover NEVER goes out of style, which is why I love it so much. If there's any bag I would invest in, it's this one.
It's the most wonderful time of the year to shop online. More and more people are staying home during Black Friday to avoid the chaos and shop at home. And now retailers are starting to realize that! PTL. I didn't go anywhere for Black Friday and I was able to knock out 3 of the 5 family member's Christmas presents at home, on my laptop, in my pajamas. LIFE IS GOOD. Here are some of my favorite places to shop that extended their Black Friday deals:
Anthropologie.................................................................................25% off with code shoptoit
rag & bone..............................................................................................25% off with code bf25
Madewell......................................................................................25% off with code calmdown
J. Crew...............................................................................................40% off with code holiday
Urban Outfitters..............................................................................................30% off sale items
ASOS.................................................................................................30% off with code blessed
When planning your holiday look, I suggest not overdoing it. There are a lot of pretty sequin and beaded dresses out there, but I think those look too prommy and juvenile. I think what's really going to make you stand out from the crowd is:
1. Picking out one statement piece (in this case, it's the top).
It can be a dress, a bracelet, shoes, or if you want to be really simple, bright red lips.
2. Make sure your statement piece is not too flashy.
If people can see their reflection from the all-over sequin dress you're wearing, it's probably too much.
3. It doesn't have to be a dress.
That's why I came up with the ensemble above. It looks good and still fits the theme.
I encourage you to stand out in your own way. That doesn't mean you have to wear all that glitter and spend lots of money on a dress you'll wear once!
Thanks for reading and happy Monday!
Most of you are probably familiar with
the phrase, "capsule closet." You probably hear this a lot when
referring to investment pieces that can be worn with almost anything. I’m
personally a huge fan of the capsule closet. I think that any girl on a budget can
benefit from it.
I’m okay with spending a couple hundred
dollars on something that I really love and will wear several times in one year.
This year, I decided that I would invest in a really nice, oversized coat. I
really like the oversized coats, because for once in fashion, they’re actually
functional; they keep you warm while looking stylish. I never buy coats that
can only be worn with a couple outfits. I always aim for neutrals when buying
coats, so I can wear it with everything.
One of the best parts about working in fashion is that you can pretty much dress however you want. You can also look however you want. If your arms are covered in tattoos, you don't have to worry about landing a job in the fashion industry, unlike most corporate jobs.
I put together a look that I am obsessed with. It can be worn at several different jobs for all you independent women out there. If there's one thing I can't get enough of this fall, it's color, and this ensemble still has the traditional aspects you need for a corporate job with a little something extra.
Thanks for reading and have a fab weekend!
In some parts of the world you are probably bringing out the sweaters, but in Mississippi it's still 90 degrees outside. Sweater season usually doesn't start until November or December for us Southerners. When I was interning in New York this summer, I remember hearing a lot of people say that summers in the city are HOT. I was there from June - August and even on New York's hottest days it was never unbearable like it is in Mississippi. Then again, I can NEVER complain about Mississippi being cold when in New York it gets down in the single digits. Thirty degrees in Mississippi is about all I can bare.
For this fall/winter season, be sure to keep an eye out for lots of color. Maybe it's just me, but I am starting to get really bored with neutrals, especially when it's already cold and ugly outside. Wear something that people want to look at. Brighten their day with pops of color!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
Labor Day is going to be a total dud for me. My plans were originally going to be spending the long weekend at the lake with friends, but after a very long week of school, I decided to spend the weekend by myself. Thus, I created a board for what would've been my weekend on the lake.
Thanks for reading and may your Labor Day be filled with sun, friends, and BBQ!
